Our owner and founder, Mir Garvy, began writing resumes and cover letters in 2009. Later, as LinkedIn gained in popularity, she rolled out LinkedIn makeover services. In 2020, she became a certified professional career coach and began offering coaching services.
In the era of AI, a human-written resume stands out because of its ability tell your story, backed by proof-points that you are excellent at what you do. Next to the competition (including AI tools), our resumes are better, more effective, and give our clients a distinct competitive edge. It turns out that AI isn’t much help when it comes to the biggest challenges of writing your own resume: quantifying your successes (resumes need metrics!), self promotion (hard for most of us), objectivity (what’s most important?), narrative storytelling that resonates with humans (once you’re past the filters), and procrastination (the accountability to just “get it done, already!”).
Although we work with clients around the country, we have virtual offices in Raleigh-Durham, NC; Seattle, WA; Boston, MA; Austin, TX; Irvine, CA; and Greenville, SC.

Mir Garvy is a Certified Professional Career Coach (CPCC), a successful business owner, and a proud mother of two. Prior to starting this business, Mir was a freelance marketing writer, an information architect for a web developer, and a usability consultant for an ergonomics firm. Mir holds a master’s degree in Technical Communication from North Carolina State University and certifications as a Master Resume Writer (CMRW) and Professional Resume Writer (CPRW). She is a member of the National Resume Writers Association (NRWA), the Professional Association of Resume Writers & Career Coaches (PARW/CC), and Career Thought Leaders (CTL). Mir now lives in her home state of North Carolina with her husband, but has also lived in Seattle, Boston, Berkeley, Boulder and Santa Fe, as well as in England. She gardens, cooks, reads, and keeps chickens and bees.

Mary Carden (née Hoch) is a Certified Professional Resume Writer who graduated from Duke University in 2014 with bachelor’s degrees in English and Psychology and a minor in Creative Writing. She was employed for several years in academic publishing–where she worked on books editorial, production, and sales–before beginning her career as a freelance writer and editor. She grew up in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, and currently lives with her husband near Durham, North Carolina. Their family includes two German Shepherd mixes (on Instagram as @killianandkipo) and a large (and growing) family of tropical plants and succulents.

With a BA in Communication Studies from Lynchburg College (now University) in Virginia, Kristi Strange began her career at a small advertising agency in Lynchburg. In the over 20 years since, she’s continued to hone her project management, traffic management, and proofreading skills in a handful of agencies and companies. Kristi joined our team in 2016 and, since then, has managed projects, schedules, and client relationships with excellence. After living in Chapel Hill, Raleigh, and Asheville, North Carolina, she is now back in her original hometown of Roanoke, Virginia, with her husband and two teenage sons. In her free time, Kristi loves to read and watch streaming TV; experiment with new recipes in the kitchen; play with her fur babies (two dogs and a very spoiled bunny!); enjoy the hiking trails in the Blue Ridge Mountains; and discover interesting new restaurants with her family.
Our Process
Our proven process is very collaborative. Mir does all career coaching, remains involved from start to finish on each project, and speaks directly with every client at key intervals to ensure satisfaction. Mary brings finely developed writing skills, many years of experience strategically tailoring resumes and LinkedIn profiles, and expertise in the latest in applicant tracking system technology. Kristi oversees the editorial process, handles all email correspondence, and proofreads each final resume. And you! You are key collaborator at every step. We couldn’t do our work without your active involvement.
